wednesday was spent watching a movie and gossiping.
thursday was spent watching a movie and shopping.
seeing a regular pattern?
OMG, i watched 2 movies in one week. that's rm14 worth of dvds.
BUT i have to say, both movies are definitely worth watching. get smart is hilarious with a capital H. steve carell is just pure funny. it's like the office on big screen. plus a tiny bit of harry potter in it. not laugh-out-loud funny but HA HA HA funny.
Siegfried: How do I know you're not from CONTROL?
Maxwell Smart: If I were from CONTROL, you'd already be dead.
Siegfried: If you were from CONTROL, YOU'D already be dead.
Maxwell Smart: Neither of us is dead, so I'm obviously not from CONTROL.
[long pause]
Shtarker: That actually makes sense.
this sort of dialogue are a plenty. which is very entertaining. and who would have thought steve carell could be a leading man! check out his other movie, dan in real life.
Sloan: It a choice, Wesley, that each of us must face: to remain ordinary, pathetic, beat-down, coasting through a miserable existence, like sheep herded by fate, or you can take control of your own destiny and join us, releasing the caged wolf you have inside. Our purpose is to maintain stability in an unstable world - kill one, save a thousand. Within the fabric of this world, every life hangs by a thread. We are that thread - a fraternity of assassins, weapons of fate. This is the decision that lies before you know: the sheep, or the wolf. The choice is yours.
FANTABULUSTIC!
i liked the editing of the movie. cool shyt man. it's like the matrix and sin city combined.
there's a scene which so reminded me of the matrix. but this was just crazy! cos in the matrix it wasn't really real. everything was a code and all. but in wanted, this was real shyt so when that scene came up, i was just 'WHOA!'
james mcavoy totally unexpected but so so SO AWESOMETASTIC! who would have thought the guy from narnia, becoming jane, atonement and penelope could be in an action movie!
and not a big fan of hers but i have to admit angelina jolie looked really hot in the movie.
the only thing ruining the fun in the movie is the totally unnecessary censoring of swear words. for goodness sake, people pay good money to watch the movie. this is not shown on tv. plus its already rated 18SG. adults are watching NOT 5 year old kids! really potong stim! potong kau kau!
it was so random. when they started using swear words, they muted the part. and it was so obvious lah what they were saying. but they JUST had to mute it! so there are parts in the movie that goes 'bla bla *silence* bla bla *silence* bla bla'
the cinema was pretty cool though. has been awhile since i watched at gsc mv. i remember not liking to watch there cos the screen wasn't as clear as the ones at tgv. the seats were good cos there was a headrest unlike in other cinemas where you had to slide down to rest your head on the seats. me likey likey the seats. i actually wanted to watch at the gsc premier at the gardens but because the tickets were double the price it was decided to be better off sticking to the regular priced cinema.
then there was the shopping.
window shopping more likely. i had to exercise self-control and kept with the mantra of "i'll be going to bangkok to shop" everytime i spotted something that i wanted. and thankfully, it's been working *gives self a pat on the back*
most also probably know that mng, zara and topshop, miss selfridge and dp are having SALE now.
OH EM GEE the queue in the fitting room is atrociously long. you would have thought the gov had annouced a price hike in apparels wtf. reminisce of the queue for petrol a day before the hike. instead of cars, a long line of females wtf.
like in each of the shops i mentioned above, there was bound to be a queue. totally made my exercising of self-control that much easier. i couldn't be bothered to queue. plus in mng it was really really hot and kinda stuffy. like they didn't bother to turn on their air-conditioning. pfft! and the clothes were in a total disarray. typical sale situation where clothes are just everywhere . even the clothes in a pasar malam would be better organized! that said, some of the stuff are reasonably priced. would probably be wise to go during a weekday like mondays or tuesdays OR be a smart shopper and wear shorts and a tank top so that you can just try on the clothes then and there. or wear a sarong and bikini! HA HA.
the sale in zara on the other hand, not really exciting. some items that i saw were like reduced from rm159.90 to rm129.90. pfftt..rm30 difference and you call that a sale. the crowd wasn't as crazy as mng though but the queue in the fitting room, just as long. i did see a bag that i liked and my self-control could only be controlled so much. thank goodness for the mantra i kept repeating. kept me sane wtf.
then the final stop we went to was the topshop/miss selfridge/dorothy perkins member's sale. storewide only 20%. wells, better 20% than nothing at all. as usual, a long line could be seen for the fitting rooms. however, the lines could be seen in topshop and dp. miss selfridge macam so kesian! no queue at all and no crowds either.
that said, nobody can resist a SALE. every shoppers favourite four letter word!
what did i get you might ask?
i got myself a rm10 tanktop and a rm5 hairclip. and no, they weren't on sale. you can call me cheapskate or you can call me economical wtf. and to think i was this close to getting that zara bag which was only cheaper by rm30! that would have been a rip off.
thankgoodness i am stingy with my money wtf.
ps:anyone going for the klue urbanscapes!? i can't decide if i want to go or not.

borrowed connection
my connection has gone God knows where. and therefore i am 'borrowing' someone's wireless. bless his soul for not password protecting it =D
after 5 agonizing days without any internet connection, i feel slightly whole again. why slightly? cos' it's not as fast as my very own connection!!! where are you??? can you please get back here NOW! clearly, i have gone mentally unstable because i have been preparing for a battle that just ended today =D=D=D *can i get a WOO-HOO!!*
i guess not having ANY internet connection for the past few days was a blessing in disguise, eh? cos that meant i didnt have any distractions. oh wells, the fruits of my labour shall be seen next month * both fingers crossed*
anyhoo, called the tm guy over and wtf dont come over laa if you dont know how to fix up/repair the wireless connection setting mumbo jumbo. so now i gotta take the modem to the computer man to do some badabingbadaboo on it.
they are so damn efficient, it's mind blowing.
i was delighted to find that there are still good samaritans out there who dont password protect their connection. good on you! helps the connectionless like me. so whoever you are, THANK YOU! you are too kind.
however, although i appreciate the wireless connection that i am borrowing, it is not the same as my very own. for one, it is super slow. so slow i could knit a sweater. not that i know how to knit a sweater. and for the life of me, i can't log onto messenger. boohoo.
oh em gee, i think i've gone delusional. i'm bloggin so passionately about an internet connection.
welcome to the 21st century.

friday the 13th
friday the 13th.
does the date freak you out? No? Yes? Right so i've got a story to tell...
It all began when pui yan called or was it sms?
Right, now i remember. We planned to go out the day before so the thing on friday was prearranged. le sigh..this is a sign of me aging +_+
So on friday we went out to catch a movie. we watched a happening movie. you'd probably figured it out already.
yeah, DAMN HAPPENING wtf.
this is an m.night shyamalan movie and i was expecting some twists at the end, you know, like all his other movies. let's just say its disappointing. plus we missed the first 10 minutes because we bought the tickets late. the movie isn't all bad. there are a few kan cheong parts where me and sook yan huddled together like the big bad monsters were out to get us wtf. plus it was freezing inside so dahlah i want to cover my ears and eyes AND also hug myself to keep myself warm and also eat popcorn at the same time. my hands could only do so much!
and there was one part in the movie where me and sook yan were like RUN LAAA!! DON'T JUST STAND THERE!!! WANNA DIE IS IT!!!????
yeahh...it was DAMN HAPPENING!
after the movie, i went and got myself 2 books. and these books have been occupying my studying time +__+ *MUST HAVE SELF-CONTROL*
once i got the books, we went off for dinner at asia cafe.
after dinner, we walked to the car. our car was parked near the banks, facing the mainroad and when we were going towards our car, there were loads of cars here and there, double-parking and waiting for space and what not.
we got to the car. i was at the passenger side with shalom and pui yan, sheeshee and sook yan were on the drivers side.
instead of opening the door, pui yan pressed the alarm button. and then the alarm stopped and the next thing i know i heard a really really soft "AHHH!!!"
naturally, i thought pui yan ahhhh-ed because she pressed the alarm button instead of the unlock button but then when i looked through the car window, to my HORROR.....
pui yan was in the middle of the road, with her handbag, purse, Croc slippers and...this is totally RANDOM, Hello Panda cookies sprawled on the tar road.
@$$HOLE!
pui yan was a snatch theft victim.
ALMOST.
she had bruises on her arms and tummy area but fortunately no bump on the head or anything serious. plus she didn't lose her bag!
by the time we looked up to catch the number plate of the @$$hole, he was already too far away.
us girls were pretty shaken up by the whole thing. and now we're scarred for life wtf. no more handbags for us. its the waistpouch now wtf. and the cargo pants with the crazy amount of pockets wtf.
to my female friends, if you're reading this, PLEASE BE CAREFUL.

eleanor rigby
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream
Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from ?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong ?
Father McKenzie writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear
No one comes near.
Look at him working. Darning his socks in the night when there's nobody there
What does he care?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
Eleanor Rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name
Nobody came
Father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave
No one was saved
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?

i typed eleanor rigby on google to search for the lyrics and was surprised to find that it was a beatles song.

now, isn't that orientalism? especially the part "they are very delicate, they are very graceful". strategic essentialism played out by the asian girl.
by the way, that is du juan, a model from shanghai.
look dr.A, i'm applying the theories outside of class!!! =D i feel so smart. education didn't go to waste.

“It was the first time we put an Asian on the cover, and it was a special Shanghai issue, so I think we sent a message,” says Carine Roitfeld, editor-in-chief of French Vogue. “I think it’s very fashionable to use Asian girls. They are a particular beauty. Their skin is amazing, and they are very delicate, and they are very graceful.” – The Wall Street Journal
